Jordan, Norway Discuss Boosting Social Protection Cooperation

Amman, Oct. 14 (Petra) -- Social Development Minister Wafa Bani Mustafa discussed with Norwegian Ambassador to Jordan Andreas Lovold on Wednesday ways to strengthen cooperation in a number of social fields.

During the meeting, Bani Mustafa reviewed national efforts to develop the social protection and care system.

She also outlined progress in implementing the National Social Protection Strategy 2025-2033 and the role of associations and civil society organizations in achieving local development.

She stressed the importance of Norwegian support for the national plan to implement U.N. Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security, adding that the plan was prepared with relevant parties, including civil society organizations and local communities.

Noting the ministry's programs for children under its daycare support project, she cited its aftercare program for orphans and children without family support in ministry-run care homes.

She detailed priorities for increasing women's political, economic and social participation. She pointed to the role of the Ministerial Committee for Women's Empowerment in carrying out related initiatives.

Lovold, in turn, called for enhancing cooperation in social fields and widening the partnership between the two countries in these areas in the future. He praised the ministry's efforts across its social programs.
